My Story

I was born in southern Spain, in a culture of warmth, tapas, and the constant presence of the sea. Since childhood, I was educated in the British system, defined by formality, an emphasis on eloquence, and a culture of academic excellence. Every summer, I spent time in the south of France, where life moved at a slower rhythm.

I now study at the University of Michigan, pursuing a double major in Mathematics and Physics. I move daily between Spanish, English, and French, and that trilingualism has become one of the main ways I understand myself. Most of my recent writing has circled around this question of linguistic identity, combining personal anecdotes with a growing interest in the neurobiology of language and the self.

At its core, I’m asking a simple question: are you the same person in each of the languages you speak?
